Viburnum molle
Common name: Soft-leaved Viburnum
Truly beautiful large shrub found along moist woodland edges and flood plains throughout its range. Uncommon in Illinois, restricted to a few counties in the southwest and central west part of the state. The exfoliating bark, arching habitat and soft leaves that become a wash of reds, oranges and yellows in the fall make this a real winner in the landscape. Because of its special site requirements, we recommend that it only be planted in gardens, shrub borders and collections.
