Verbena stricta
Common name: Hoary Vervain
Hoary Vervain is the more showy of the two vervains that we offer. In contrast to the Blue Vervain, this plant enjoys dry and well drained soils. If planted in disturbed areas without much competition, it can spread quite aggressively. However, it behaves quite well if placed with other robust vegetation. Somewhat short lived, but will reseed in abundance. Its flowers attract a wide range of pollinators, and a variety of songbirds enjoy its seeds, particularly in winter months.
