Thuja occidentalis
Common name: White Cedar
I have seen this plant used and abused as a hedge or warped into bizarre shapes. Now if you need it to do that, then it does adapt well enough, but if you want it to reach its full potential, leave it be. Under the right conditions, this plant can become a truly beautiful green drapery. In the wild, it seems to like moist, well drained and cooler soils. It seems adaptable to a wide range of habitat with the exception of dry and hot.Â
