Styrax americanus
Common name: Snowbell
This plant is very rare in northeastern Illinois. Our plants come from seeds, which the Morton Arboretum collected in the wild. Spectacular white, bell-shaped flowers bloom in late May. Snowbell displays no fall color but has beautiful smooth, gray bark. It grows best in good garden soil and half day sun.
