Spiraea tomentosa
Common name: Hardhack
This upright, columnar plant has the most spectacular pink blooms in July. It grows best in wet sites, and can even grow in standing water. The plants tend not to form the large colonies that Spiraea alba forms. They work particularly well when massed on mesic to wet-mesic sites.
Synonym: Steeplebush
