Silene virginica
Common name: Fire Pink
Fire Pink is a very attractive garden plant, producing abundant red and pink flowers in late spring to mid summer. The plant has a mound-like growth form, and when in bloom, the flowers cover the entire mound. The blooming display lasts about 1 and a half months and attracts a number of large butterflies and hummingbirds. It is short-lived but will reseed.
