Native plant

One of the most well know of all prairie grasses and with good reason. It is beautiful. The color, the height, its durability, and form all set this grass in the top handful of grasses that cross the native/ornamental threshold with style. In nature you’ll find it on well-drained sites of all kinds from sand and gravel soils to the tops of mesic hill prairie sites. In the garden it will do fine on most sites that are not too wet and don't get a lot of snow piling. One of the most effective uses I’ve seen is in a parking lot where thousands of plants line the hot expanse and look great doing it.
