Ribes aureum

Common name: Golden Currant

Native plant

We're not sure if we'd recomend that you plant this in home "wild" areas as it is not truely native to our local wood, prairies, or savannas. Now that I've warned you, I will say that it is a very pretty plant, and I might say that planting one in a forage garden for eating and bringing in pollinators will likely do little harm. (I'm going to hedge that here: It is a native to the great plains states and not here. Use your best judgement in planting.) Moist to well drained soils with good light will benefit this species best.
