Pulsatilla patens multifida

Common name: Pasque Flower

Native plant

The little violet flower that peeks out of the ground early in the spring and even wears a fuzzy coat to keep itself warm. Truly a little beauty. Pasque flower is very site specific, needing very well drained, sunny soils to be even remotely happy and to thrive. Look for this plant to show up very early in the year and then to vanish like a ghost in late July. The flower is a little cup shaped number with a light blue interior with violet veining and bright yellow throat (stamens). Great for sandy soils.
