Pinus banksiana

Common name: Jack Pine

Native plant

A good choice for poor, dry sandy soils with loads of sun and no protection. Can be found growing on dunes off the lake in areas with harsh winds and a range of extreme temperatures. Not well adapted to poorly drained sites or heavy clay soils. Rather unconventional aesthetically, with an asymmetric look and branching that lends to a unique personality in this plant.
