Penstemon digitalis
Common name: Foxglove Beardtongue
Foxglove Beardtongue matures to 4' in height and blooms white to pink flowers in early summer. It prefers mesic to dry mesic soils but can adapt to all light conditions: full sun to full shade. The tubular flowers of this plant attract bees and hummingbirds. Penstemons are called 'Beard Tongues' because the sterile stamen has a tuft of small hairs.
