Part-Shade Kit
Common name: For Semi-Shade Savanna Areas
Part-shade areas of the yard are those that receive around 4-6 hours per day, not quite enough to get great blooms out of prairie plants, but a bit much for full shade woodland species. These plants are typically found in natural savanna areas and are well adapted to such conditions. Bloom times range from late spring to early fall. This kit will cover an area roughly 45 sq. ft planted on 18 inch centers.
We include the following species depending on availability. Substitutions may be necessary from time to time. Substitutes are chosen based on site suitability as well as general aesthetic and bloom time.
- (3) Virginia Wild Rye- Elymus virginicus
- (2) Mist Flower- Conoclinium coelestinum
- (3) Sneezeweed- Helenium autumnale
- (2) Tall Thimbleweed- Anemone virginiana
- (3) Savanna Blazing Star- Liatris scariosa
- (3) Heart Leaved Golden Alexander- Zizia aptera
- (2) White Prairie Clover- Dalea candida
