Osmunda regalis

Common name: Royal Fern

Native plant

Think big and prehistoric in shaded areas where moisture is persistant. Prefers sandy, acidic soils and periods of standing water.  Will tolerate some sun if consistently moist to wet. Often found in high quality native habitats.  It is slow to establish, but once mature has a large, shrub-like appearance and is very long-lived.
