Oligoneuron rigidum

Common name: Stiff Goldenrod

Native plant

Stiff Goldenrod is a tall prairie plant with large, bright yellow flower clusters.  Clusters can be up to 4 inches wide, with 2-4 clusters branching off the top of a central stalk.  Blooms occur late summer to early fall and last about a month.  Flowers attract a wide range of bees, butterflies and other pollinators looking for their last bits of pollen and nectar of the season.  This plant can grow in a wide range of soil conditions and will prolifically reseed if not deadheaded.
