Maianthemum stellatum

Common name: Starry False Solomon's Seal

Native plant

Starry False Solomon's Seal is a small woodland species with attractive foliage, flowering plumes and berries.  It prefers moist, well-drained soils and dappled shade.  It blooms in the spring and foliage stays green all summer long, making this a great fill-in species for shadier areas.  It will spread by rhizomes and form small colonies under ideal conditions.  A range of bees are attracted to the flowers, and songbirds frequently feed on the berries.
