Lupinus perennis

Common name: Wild Lupine

Native plant

Wild Lupines are a beautiful early flowering plant for part shade areas.  Their deep violet blooms start in late spring to early summer and can last a month or more if the weather stays fairly cool.  When planted in groups or allowed to spread, the flower display is even more dramatic and long lasting. They are rhizomatous and can form colonies if given the space. Lupines are nitrogen fixers and are a great choice for areas with poor or degraded soils.
