Liatris spicata
Common name: Marsh Blazing Star
Liatris spicata is one of the more common Liatris species in the trade, commonly sold as "Kolbold". The straight species losses nothing in its beauty, but it is somewhat taller. Happiest on moist sites and drainages, it adapts very nicely to garden soils and grows to fill open space around itself. Can seed in good soil, but I'm not sure many gardeners will mind. Pollinators of all sizes love visiting this plant.
