Liatris cylindracea
Common name: Dwarf Blazing Star
As the name suggests, the Dwarf Blazing Star is the smallest of the Liatris that we sell. Leaves are lance-shaped, up to 8 inches long, and decrease in size as they ascend up the single stem. Purple flowers about 1 inch long and cylindrical occur in a raceme at the top of the stem. This plant has a very high drought tolerance and does well in nutrient poor soils, but it does not compete well with taller plants in more fertile soil. Flowers attract a number of bees, butterflies and moths.
