Ionactis linariifolius

Common name: Stiff Aster

Native plant

Formerly Aster linariifolius, this slow growing perennial stays small, typically topping out at 18".  Although each plant only produces one small cluster of flowers, sometimes with only a single bloom per plant, they attract a number and range of pollinators, especially bees.  Because of its small habit and its minimal spread, it is a great choice for smaller native gardens, and as a late bloomer, can offer a beautiful display in the fall.  Best planted in bunches to maximize the number of blooms.
