Hibiscus moscheutos (palustris)
Common name: Swamp Rose Mallow
Like others in the Hibiscus genus, Swamp Rose Mallow is a tall, upright plant with large, dramatic blooms. Flowers are 4-6 inches across, white to light pink with a reddish to purple throat. Blooming period occurs mid summer to early fall and lasts about a month. Because only 1-2 flowers are in bloom on each plant at one time, this plant works best planted in groups on water edges and borders in low, wet areas. Flowers are a favorite of several bee species.
