Helianthus grosseserratus

Common name: Sawtooth Sunflower

Native plant

Sawtooth sunflower is a bright, showy summer flowering plant that is common throughout our area.  Grown on its own, the plant can reach heights up to 12 feet!  If grown in clusters or colonies, the height is reduced to just 4 or 5 feet, which is much more manageable.  The purple stems contrasted with the bright yellow flowers give this plant a great deal of character.
