Gaultheria procumbens
Common name: Wintergreen
The only species in this genus found in North American and scattered around Illinois. Look for it in RICH wooded slopes and like areas where it stays cool, moist and well-drained. I collected it on a lark, and it came up pretty well so we're offering it to those who have the right site. Woodland bees go after it for pollen in summer. It tends to be more of a vine that runs and roots along the ground. It stays green year round.
