Eutrochium purpureum
Common name: Sweet Joe Pye Weed
A large, upright perennial great for partly shaded, wetter areas. The large panicles of flowers are a favorite of many pollinators, including bumblebees and several types of moths. Although more flexible in growing conditions than Eutrochium maculatum, leaves will scorch if soil is dry for long periods, and leaves will turn yellow in full sun. This is one of the few choices for tall, blooming plants that will grow in wooded areas.
