Eutrochium maculatum
Common name: Joe Pye Weed
Slightly shorter than its cousin Eutrochium purpureum, Joe Pye Weed is a water-loving plant found in high quality prairies, marshes and bogs. Flowers are purple-pink, showy and very fragrant. Blooming occurs mid to late summer and lasts 3-4 weeks. This plant can tolerate some shade, especially during the hottest summer months, but prefers wet, full-sun conditions. Leaves will become scorched if soil is allowed to dry out.
