Euonymus atropurpureus

Common name: Wahoo

Native plant

Wahoo is a great name for this plant because of the colors that it can produce. Grows well in full sun, better in light shade, but in either case it does need some protection from the wind. Seems adapted to heavy clay soils. Another common name is “native burning bush” for its spectacular red fall color. Single or multi-stemmed, these plants can reach 15-20 feet in height. The bright red fall color and the rosy, Christmas ornament-like fruit make this a great plant in any yard!
