Diarrhena americana
Common name: Beak Grass
This perennial grass has bright green leaves that lean to the side as the seed develops. It is shade tolerant and can take nearly all soil conditions. It has a tendency to form dense colonies under the right conditions, and as such, is best used as a ground cover in bare shade areas that need stabilizing or filling in. In fall, this grass will turn yellow, for a short time adding to the richness of fall before fading to brown then dying back for winter. (Usually much darker green than pictured)
