Castilleja sessiliflora
Common name: Downy Paintbrush
Slightly less showy than other Castilleja species, Downy Paintbrush has long, lance-shaped, pale yellow to pale green flowers. Although small in stature, these plants are quite tough! They are well suited for dry, infertile soil and exposed sites. Like others of this genus, they are hemiparasitic, parasitizing small grasses in order to gain extra water and nutrients.
