Carex pensylvanica

Common name: Common Oak Sedge

Native plant

This low growing woodland sedge is commonly found in oak woods and savannas.  When under ideal conditions, it can form loose colonies of small, neat clumps.  Often growing only 8-10" in height, it is a great choice for unmowed paths or replacing a traditional lawn in shaded yards.
