Campanula rotundifolia

Common name: Harebell

Native plant

This bellflower has wispy, lance-shaped leaves with large bell-shaped floweres that hang on the ends of its lanky stems.  Although they do not flower until their second season, the bloom time is worth the wait, lasting 2-3 months in late summer.  Being so small and dainty, it does not compete well with larger, more aggressive species.  It is not visited by too many pollinators, but a variety of bee species will visit it for its nectar.
