Calamagrostis canadensis
Common name: Blue Joint Grass
A wonderful grass for moist ground stabilization and habitat building. Commonly called blue-joint grass, and the name is no lie. The grass has a blue cast to it starting early in summer and lasting the rest of the season. It is not as big as some of the cultivars that come out of this genus, but for my money, it might be slightly more attractive. It can be a little aggressive if planted in ideal conditions. In the wild, it can form mats of exclusion when it really likes the site.
