Baptisia tinctoria

Common name: Small Yellow Indigo

Native plant

With a neat, bush-like growth habit, this plant typically grows as wide as it does tall.  Its characteristics are a bit different than other Baptisia species.  Both the  leaves and flowers are much smaller, and instead of the tight clustered racemes, these flowers are sparsely arranged.  Although there are fewer flowers per raceme, the abundance of the racemes make this plant very showy.
