Astragalus canadensis
Common name: Milkvetch
This small, nitrogen-fixing plant is a great addition to aid in improving soil quality. It thrives in nearly all soil conditions and a range of moisture levels and sun exposures. Its abundant racemes of tubular flowers are a good food source for many bumblebees and other bee species as well as hummingbirds. Blooms can last from 2-3 months. Sparse branching and pinnately compound leaves offer unique texture in the landscape. (The picture is used from NCSU with thanks)
