Asclepias viridiflora

Common name: Short Green Milkweed

Native plant

One of the harder to find Asclepias in nature as it does not have the "flash" of some of its more colorful cousins. It is, none the less, a wonderful plant that flows over the ground and flowers in cluster that are reminiscent of Mead's milkweed. I have been waiting some time to have this plant on offer and only last year did the population I've been watching finally have pods. For those of you with sandy, loamy and drier soils  this plant is a wonderful addition. I would avoid this speices if you have wet soils and heavy shade.
