Asclepias sullivantii

Common name: Prairie Milkweed

Native plant

A smaller, less aggressive milkweed choice, this plant reaches a maximum height of 4', but usually only makes it to 2 or 3.  It thrives in nearly all soil conditions but prefers full sun.  Flowers are light pink umbels that occur at the top and in the upper axils. Leaves are oblong with rounded tips and a distinct pink midvein.  This plant is a host for Monarch caterpillars as well as many other pollinators.
