This is a slow-growing prairie shrub that thrives in drier conditions.  It has showy clusters of purple flowers with orange-red stamens that make it truly a unique show when in bloom.  As part of the pea family, it has compound leaves that offer great texture to the landscape.  Its nitrogen-fixing ability aids in overall soil health.
