Possibility Place Nursery is a family-owned farm in Monee, IL specializing in growing trees, shrubs and perennials native to our region. We grow native plants to help communities and individuals increase biodiversity and improve ecological function of their natural spaces, from vast wild areas to small back yards. We are an environmentally conscious, ecologically minded company looking to do our part to contribute to habitat restoration and help fight climate change, one plant at a time.

Greenhouse Propagator

Primary responsibilities will be to transplant and care for this season’s plant stock and fulfilling and packing orders for online sales shipments.

Positions last from March 27th to approximately June 1st.  Some positions will be extended, dependent on workload and contract order volumes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Desire to get your hands dirty in fast-paced work environment while learning about the beautiful native plants in our area.
  • A love for plants!  No formal training, education or experience in horticulture is necessary.
  • Ability to lift and walk with while carrying up to 25 pounds. 
  • Ability to stand for several hours at a time while transplanting; ability to work in the hot, humid environment of a greenhouse or out in the sun.
  • Minimum availability of at least 3 days a week, Monday through Friday, 8am-3:30pm. 5 days a week preferred.
  • Experience working on a small farm or nursery a plus.

Bonus Qualifications:

These are not required!  However, if you have some of this experience, it will be more likely you will enjoy and be successful as a propagator.

  • Experience transplanting seedlings, dividing root systems for propagation, and/or sowing seeds.
  • Experience working in a greenhouse or on a small farm.
  • General experience and knowledge in plant care.
  • Some plant knowledge, such as growing requirements, plant anatomy, plant disease or pest management.
  • Experience working in all-weather conditions.

Nursery & Field Worker

Primary responsibilities will be caring for crops, harvesting trees, and loading customer orders.

Positions last from March 1st to the end of November.  Some positions will be extended dependent on workload and order volumes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Desire to get your hands dirty in a fast-paced work environment while learning about the beautiful native plants in our area.
  • A love for plants!  No formal training, education or experience in horticulture is necessary.
  • Ability to lift and walk with while carrying, up to 50 pounds, occasionally 75-100 pounds with assistance. 
  • Ability to stand for several hours at a time while working in the field; ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Availability of at least 3 days a week, Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm.  5 days a week preferred.
  • Experience working on a small farm or nursery a plus.
