Sycamore Plantanus occidentalisMagnificent white trunk and extremely fast grower. One of the fastest growing trees and the largest tree east of the Mississippi River. 3'- 4' of growth per year is common for trees planted near a stream. The white and brown bark dominants the winter landscape along streams. Many leaves will fall in the summer if we have a drought. Anthracnose kills young leaves in the spring, but new leaves will be produced.
