Red Mulberry
Morus rubra

Red Mulberry is an understory tree that grows in mesic woods. The tree's leaves are up to 8 inches long and just as wide. The fruit is very edible and loved by birds. The non-native white mulberry is a noxious weed that seems to sprout everywhere. THIS IS NOT THAT PLANT. Red Mulberry is far less common and does not seem to sprout up all over even though it produces a lot of seed. The bark was used by the natvie americans to make rope and cloth.
