Our Staff

Connor Shaw is the owner and founder of Possibility Place Nursery. He has a B.S. in forest hydrology and a M.S. in wild land hydrology. During his first 10 years out of graduate school, he wrote environmental reports on zone changes in the Chicago area. Connor has taught numerous classes and seminars on native plants and nursery production, and has written several articles for various publications.

Ramon Gonzalez is our crew foreman and field manager. He has been with us since 1983. Ramon studied horticulture at Joliet Junior College and has lectured about the nursery industry and over related subjects. He also has a tremendous talent with stone.

Kelsay Shaw is our botanist and sales consultant. He has a B.S. in botany from Eastern Illinois University and has been doing work in the industry for the past 17 years. He has taught classes on native plants and their uses in landscaping, as well as consulting on larger projects for some of our clients. The photos on this web site are largely of his work.

Tristan Shaw is our Nursery Manager and irrigation guru. He has studied horticulture for the past 10 years and has lectured about the nursery industry. He oversees the pick-up of orders and day-to-day operations. He has worked in the industry for the past 15 years.

Terry Rohwedder joined the staff in late 2007 as our new office and account manager. Those of you that call the nursery have likely talked to her. She’s usually at the center of what goes on around here. We have come to appreciate her attentive nature because it keeps most of us on track and we’re coming closer to being on time in the process. She is also in charge of scheduling orders for departure from the farm.

Laura Verink has taken over the duties as head of propagation and greenhouse management. She joins the staff here at the nursery after working much of her life with animals, making the switch to plants after studying at Joliet Junior College. She has proven to be well suited to the peculiar work habits of PPN. She also works with other staff members on research on plants and how to grow them better.
