Paper Birch Betula papyriferaThe Paper Birch is truely one of the most spectacular white barked trees of our native flora. the tree is native from the south side of the lake to the tundra. It prefers cool summers and mesic soils. Bronze Birch Bore will destroy the tree if its environmental conditions are not met. Most of our urban areas are not suitable to grow Paper Birch, so take care to choose the right site. The only urban are that we have seen great success in growing this plant is very near lake Michigan, where some native stands still exist.
